The goal while developing AdminB was simplicity, so the documentation ist simple.
Installation
Install the AdminB template first. Secondly install the AdminB component. The component zip file is near 3MB in size, so you may have to be patient while installation. If Installation fails because limits in server configuration, try to install from server directiory (Joomla! option).
Do not change the administration template manually by setting the AdminB template as standard! AdminB will do that automatically.
Starting
AdminB is a backend component only. Start the AdminB Interface from the Component Menu of the Joomla! Administration (switch to AdminB, than start AdminB).
When Joomla! was left with the AdminB template enable, Joomla! will start next time with AdminB. When AdminB is enable and Joomla is started with a Manager Access Account, there is no link back to regular Joomla Adminstration. This is safe, if a client should work with AdminB only.
Notice: AdminB is not a simple webpage but a web application powered by Dojo Toolkit® and CKEditor®. This tools and the AdminB programm code were tested in many browsers with success but we have best results with Firefox browsers.
The AdminB interface is full Ajax technologie, so there is no page reload at all. A page reload by browser will destroy your settings.
AdminB shows the Site Structure in a simple menu - page - relation with no sections / categories. The menu can be changed by drag and drop. You can also change menu items by drag and drop from one menu to an other.
The main area shows three tabs for content editing. Here the menu title can be changed, too. If there are no special requirements, the tabs for advanced and meta content can be ignored, Joomla! works correct without this settings.
On the right is a simple Image Picker. Advanced browsers like firefox 3+ allow drag and drop operation from the image picker into the editor.
The editor is the new CKEditor 3 ®, further informations you will find at the CKEditor website.
Insert a new page
Open the menu where the new page should be placed and click the menu item. Then click the Insert Item Button and the new menu item plus article linked to the menu item are created and saved with "NEW" content. That's all you have to do to create a Joomla! page!
Change the position of the menu item by drag and drop. No problem if you choosed the wrong menu or parent item ... change the placement quickly by drag and drop.
Change titles
When a content or menu item titel has changed, AdminB maybe will ask you for cleaning the Alias Title Field when saving the page. This means, the old Alias Title displayed at the meta tab will be deleted and Joomla! creates alias titles from your new entered titels. This is recommended, if you have no special titles for the alias (used for SEO links).
If the Auto Alias Function at the configuration is on (default setting), the Alias Fields will be cleaned by every change without asking.
Configuration
At the Joomla! Admin Component Menu is a Configuration for the AdminB Interface. Most configurations are for the CKEditor 3, further informations you will find at the CKEditor documentation pages. AdminB installs example data for the editor, also examples how to set custom styles for the editor.
Be sure to set the path to your frontend template CSS file, so the editor can display content with right styles. Tip: when using several CSS files for your template, create a main css file with css includes.
